Know Your Train Coach

Imagine this situation, you are currently queuing on the platform, waiting for the LRT. When the LRT arrives, you find that the train coach is short in which it's door is not in front of the platform which you queue on. Then, you have to walk towards the train door  and starts queue all over again with other passengers.

I believe most of you face this situation at least once, and it is getting worse during peak hour. you can't stand it can't you?

You can wait for train to arrive on the yellow tiles where train door will be stopped in front of it

Here is the simple way for you to estimate the type of arriving train coach, thus saving your time by queuing on the right platform. But first, let me tell you briefly about train coach.

In Kelana Jaya Line (KLJ), currently two types of train coach are under operation. 2-coach (six doors) and 4-coach (12 doors) train.

For Monorail Line, only 2-coach train are used and for Ampang Line (AMG), the number of coach is fixed to six coaches. So there will be no problem on estimating type of arriving train with these two lines.

OK lets get back to simple steps to queue on the right platform.

First, keep your eyes on the passenger information display (PIDS) at the platform. The display does not only shows how many minutes left the next train will arrive, but also how many coach that the arriving train will be.

The PIDS shows that 2-coach train will be arriving at the station

The PIDS shows that 4-coach train will be arriving at the station

Once the message is known, you can easily queue at the platform where the train door will be exactly placed in front of you.

Second way to know type of arriving train is look at the orange lights above the platform door. This is only can be found at underground station (from Ampang Park to Masjid Jamek station). Prior to the train arrival, the lights above the platform screen door (PSD) will light up, indicating that the train door will be stopping at the corresponding PSD.

The lights in red circles will go off to indicate that the train door will be stopping at the corresponding PSD

Now you can know which door that will be opened based on the information above.

Happy Traveling!!
