How To Use Public Bus? (Tutorial)

In our previous post, we have provided you a tutorial on how to use public trains in various lines around Klang Valley. In this post, we will provide you a simple tutorial on how to travel efficiently with public buses.
Tips #1: Always know your current and destination location.

This tip is essential for those who intend to use public transport anywhere. Know where you are, the name of your current location and destination.
At least have some ideas on the nearest Point of Interest (POI) like shopping complexes, road names, or other landmarks (parks, schools, universities, rail stations etc.) so that you can easily key them into your journey planner or ask people around.

Foursquare is the most used applications worldwide

The same goes with Waze applications

Tips #2: Know the bus number and their route.
Like light rail transit (LRT), public buses also have their operation routes associated with their respective bus numbers.
Look back at your current and destination location, and see whether they lie on the available bus route.
Such information is available either at bus stands, bus hubs and journey planner websites (and mobile applications). You can refer to our previous post about how Moovit mobile apps can ease your journey. Click here.

Tips #3: Bus stop/ bus hub location
Now you have certain what bus that you need to take to get to your destination. The information left for you is to look for nearest bus stops available since public buses cannot simply stop at random roadside to pick you up.

Tips #4: Wait for the bus
After you have arrived at the bus stop, wait patiently for your desired bus. Please make sure that you remember the bus' route name. Each bus is equipped with a LED display that displays its route number and destination for your easy reference.
Tips #5: Board the Bus and have a safe Journey
Before you board the bus, you can always double-confirm with bus captains regarding its destination. And do not forget to prepare exact change for fare. Press the electronic bell nearby your seat whenever you reach your desired stop/destination.
